Green is the color of will power, and one of the most powerful lights in the universe. The Guardians have harnessed this power to create an intergalactic police force wielding green power rings. What happens when Hal Jordan and Kilowog find one of these rings abandoned in space? Has one of their comrades fallen, or is something even more sinister happening?

Let me get this out of the way first: if you've read any Green Lantern comic before this, don't expect anything groundbreaking or overly mature. I've been spoiled by Tomasi and Johns (esp. the Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night arcs) for the past couple of years, but I wanted to get this to see how much it adds to what the cartoon has established on its own (and yes, I am a huge fan of the show).

That said, this is really a nice book for children as an introduction to the GL mythos without overloading them. The writing is simple, but has a few good zingers (mostly from Kilowog), however there are many things that someone who hasn't followed the show just will not understand: how Razer got there, how Aya got her body and why, who Atrocitus and Zox are. There's also the severe lack of development of Razer and Aya's "romance", although there is one really good scene that explains Razer's facial markings.

Where the book really suffers is the art. It's simple, yes, but Aya doesn't look nearly as, dare I say, classy and confident as she does in the show, Razer is given some very weird facial expressions, and there are times where I wonder if Hal hopped over from the Archie comics universe instead of DC/Bruce Timm.

I want to like it, I really do. And while a part of me is grateful for the little extra tidbits we don't get from the cartoon and I'm happy to show my support in the face of its cancellation, I really think it could have been better with a different creative team.

Green Lantern The Animated Series eBook ART BALTAZAR DARIO BRIZUELA FRANCO Reviews

This book was much better than i expected it to be, with a good ongoing story through all 6 issues, instead of the usual group of 6 seperate stories the dc animated comics usually are
I got this book as a present for my nephews. They liked the cartoon, but I'm trying to entice them into reading books and expanding their minds.
Containing issues #0-#5, this tome is a great addition to any 'Green Lantern's collection! With a new take on the characters, based on the Animated Series, new adventures await the reader. While the stories do not directly tie-in with the show itself, they do stand well on their own. Lots of action and good humor!

Perhaps the highlight of the book is Luciano Vecchio's art in #4. His style is very on-model and flows pleasantly with the story. Highly recommend this graphic novel.
My local shop forgot to get me this issue for my nephew so was easier to get here for his collection. He enjoys this GL title as well as the animated show allot.
It wasn't what I had in mind..but my son seemed to like it
